The Various Food Products Division of the Chamber of Food Industries held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, headed by Mr. Mohamed Saleh Bashanfar. He stressed during the meeting that in light of the common desire and mutual interests of the parties of the system, preferential export and import benefits are granted to companies that join the official food safety system, especially since there are countries such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where a number of products are exported through factories listed on the white list of the Egyptian Authority and the Saudi Authority after ensuring that the facilities comply with the requirements and procedures for food safety.
Mr. Bashanfar announced that mechanisms are currently being studied to encourage and stimulate salt factories to increase exports of manufactured products through a number of proposals, including canceling export fees on salt products and facilitating procedures for exporting companies in cooperation with the Mineral Resources Authority and the mining sector of the Egyptian Mining Company.
For his part, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Bassyouni, Executive Director of the Chamber, reviewed during the meeting a number of technical support programs that the Chamber is currently carrying out, and stressed the importance of identifying the needs of salt producing members so that the Chamber can provide the necessary support and meet those needs and achieve the maximum benefit and development necessary for this important industry.
Mr. Bashanfar also pointed out that there are many advantages and benefits for owners of industrial establishments to comply with food safety requirements, which has a positive impact on the business climate in general and on the health and safety of the consumer in particular.
