First annual conference
"Food industries ... fruits of reform and future opportunities"

In the context of the Chamber’s constant efforts to fulfill its mission to support and develop this vital and important sector, the Chamber organized its first annual conference under the title “Food Industries… Fruits of Reform and Future Opportunities” on April 4th, 2021, with the aim of shedding light on the fruits of the political reforms, and their effects on the development and growth of the sector, creating job opportunities for youth, as well as setting up a road map and appropriate coordination solutions for the advancement of the food industries to contribute more positively to the gross domestic product and achieve the desired growth rates. The conference's agenda was based on 4 important pillars, which are: -
Legislative reforms and their positive effects on the food industry
Food safety system and the role of agriculture as the first pillar of safe food
Funds and initiatives supporting the sector (especially small and medium-sized companies)
Roadmap to globally competitive food industry

Food Import Control System

Within the framework of the Chamber's efforts to support the food industry sector, and work to increase the awareness of food establishments at all levels (large, medium, small and micro establishments) towards all the legislation developed by the National Food Safety Authority and ways of compatibility with it, and within the framework of constructive and fruitful cooperation between the 2 entities and in coordination with TAIB project of LAND O'LAKES, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Chamber organized a seminar for the members and a number of importers to present the strategy of food import control systems, as well as the rules for regulating food import (Resolution No. 6) issued by the Authority and discussing the implementation mechanisms. The seminar was held on Monday 10/12/2020.

Food Safety Guide for the workers in the Live Market Industry

Within the framework of the activities of the Chamber of Food Industries in cooperation with a farmer to farms project - the safety and quality of food provided by Land O'Lakes International Development, the Chamber organized a webinar on the basics of food safety for workers in meat and poultry processing facilities. The lecture was given by the American expert / Christine Testa - expert in food safety in meat and poultry processing facilities, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

Innovation and Technology in Dairy Products for Small & Medium Enterprises

Within the framework of the activities of the Chamber of Food Industries and its efforts to support small and medium industries to increase their skillful and innovative technologies and in joint cooperation with the Technology and Innovation Center at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Chamber held a workshop on Monday, August 24, 2020 to present the following initiatives:
• A project towards an effective dialogue for technological development and support for scientific and technological partnership between the public and private sectors, which aims to stimulate technological growth and improve the conditions of the industrial sector in Egypt through clear mechanisms for a systematic and regular dialogue between the main partners.
• DAINME - SME project innovation in dairy products for small and medium enterprises in the Mediterranean region, which aims to improve the economic situation of small and medium-sized companies operating in the field of dairy products and their products by introducing innovative products, developing new value dairy products and maximizing the added value of industry by-products such as the whey from cheese making.

Green value chains financing program in Egypt in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

The Chamber held a webinar regarding the financing of green value chains in Egypt on Sunday, August 16, 2020. The meeting included an opening speech by Mr. Mahmoud Al-Bassiouny, Executive Director of the Chamber of Food Industries and a presentation by Dr. Hoda Sabry, Program Officer at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) ), And QNB Al-Ahli Bank officials to respond to the inquiries raised and to explain how to fill out forms to obtain financing.

Workshop on Integrated Pest Control in Food Factories

Within the framework of the activities of the Chamber of Food Industries in cooperation with Farmer to Farmer project - the safety and quality of food provided by Land O'Lakes International Development, a webinar was held on Monday, August 10, 2020 on Integrated pest control (IPM) in food factories, hosting the American expert / Jerry Hibbs - an entomologist and expert in food safety.

Webinar on Food Safety Management -Safe Production and Packaging

Within the framework of the Chamber's efforts to promote the Egyptian food industries, and in an effort to transfer knowledge and exchange views on issues related to food safety, the Chamber participated in a webinar entitled “Food Safety Management - Safe Production and Packaging” which was organized by the Chamber in cooperation with a “Conzept” for exhibitions, conferences - the Organizer of Food Africa, on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, in the presence of:

Seminar to raise food safety requests in Gharbia Governorate

In the presence of H.E Dr. Tarek Rahmi, Governor of Gharbia, Dr. Hussein Mansour, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, Eng. Ashraf Al-Gazayerli, Chairman of the Chamber of Food Industries - CFI, representatives of the National Bank of Egypt, and TAIB project and number of our distinctive members, CFI organized a seminar to raise the awareness of the Food manufacturers in Gharbia on the Food Safety Systems & Requirements. This seminar comes within the activities of the 1st training program scheduled among many others to cover a number of governorates. The Chamber of Food Industries extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the esteemed members and the prominent guest speakers.
