
The Sugar, Confectionary, and Chocolates Division of the Chamber of Food Industries organized its periodic meeting, headed by Mr. Hassan Al-Fandi, Head of the Division, on Wednesday, February 21, 2023, in the presence of Dr. Nashi Wissa, Director General of Imports at the National Food Safety Authority, and many members.
This is to demand the need to work to reduce the customs release time for Commodities, raw materials, and production requirements, Reducing the burdens resulting from delay fines, which international shipping companies benefit from, pointing out that reducing the release time and making the necessary facilities is an important step to restore balance to prices, which achieves the interest of the country and reduces the purchasing cost of the citizen.
Dr. Nashi Wissa indicated that the decision of the Board of Directors of the Food Safety Authority No. 269 to reduce the rates of sampling of production requirements for the whitelist factories approved by the authority contributes to enhancing the efficiency of customs releases as one of the goals of the Food Safety Authority in addition to the primary goal of providing protection to the Egyptian consumer.
Dr. Nashi Wissa confirmed through his presentation to the members of the Sugar and Confectionary, and Chocolates Division about the National Food Safety Authority’s system to reduce sampling rates from imported production requirements – that 41 companies registered in this system, pointing to the importance of increasing participation to create a database for products, companies, and items during this stage Let’s get to the release by conformity and documentary examination.
