
The Chamber of Food Industries held an expanded meeting for producers and manufacturers of olive oil and olive pomace, to discuss developments and the future of this industry in light of the amendments to the international Codex specification in February 2024. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Maysa Hamza, Executive Director of the Chamber, in the presence of more than 50 participants from producing and manufacturing companies, many representatives of governmental, regulatory and research agencies, representatives of the National Food Safety Authority, the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality, the Agricultural Research Center, the General Organization for Export and Import Control, and Egypt’s representatives in the International Olive Oil Council and the International Olive Oil Association, and Olive and olive oil producers in Matrouh Governorate. Dr. Maysa Hamza confirmed that this meeting comes within the framework of the Chamber’s keenness to discuss all the challenges facing Egypt’s national and vital industry in production and export, noting that olives and olive oil are among the most important and promising strategic industries for export.
