
On Sunday, September 25, 2022, the Chamber of Food Industries organized a meeting for food supplement manufacturers, and members of the Chamber, to discuss the Egyptian Medicines Authority’s decision No. 572 of 2022 regarding the issuance of rules for the registration of complementary medical preparations.
The meeting was held in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud Al Bassiouni, Executive Director of the Chamber, Dr. Adel Ismail, Head of the Specialty Foods, Yeast and Food Additives, Eng. Al Shahat Selim, Deputy Executive Director of Government Relations and Legislation in the Chamber, and many food supplement manufacturing companies.
The meeting was held to find out the repercussions of the issuance of the above decision in the light of the current laws regulating the special food and nutritional supplement sector based on the Law of Establishing the National Food Safety Authority No. 1 of 2017 and the Authority’s Board of Directors Decision No. 1 of 2018 regarding (the rules for organizing and registering foods with special nutritional uses) .
The attendees reviewed the effect of the issuance of the decision on existing investments and called on all attendees to intervene in the Chamber and take the necessary measures to prevent conflict and duplication in the decisions regulating food products produced in accordance with international legislation in order to avoid the extremely negative impact on the business climate and investment in this important sector that covers consumer needs in accordance with established safety standards. internationally.
