The Chamber of Food Industries organized a workshop in cooperation with the Comprehensive Green Growth Project in Egypt, which is funded by the Swiss government and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization "UNIDO" under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud El Bassiouni, Executive Director of the Chamber and Mrs. Anakira Escandoni, the project manager, Dr. Adel Sabry, the national coordinator of the project, Chemonics Egypt, the technical experts for the project, and a number of members of the Chamber. Mr. Mahmoud Al-Basiouni, Executive Director of the Chamber, opened the symposium that this strategic partnership with the Green Growth Project comes with the aim of contributing to the efforts of the Egyptian government to promote growth, production, and create job opportunities while preserving the environment, especially in the framework of Egypt's hosting of the COP27 climate summit, and indicated that the Chamber had recently coordinated A field visit to the project beneficiaries in the governorates of Upper Egypt, and a number of the factories of the member companies in Cairo, with the aim of raising their awareness of production methods and getting acquainted with the experiences of these factories and the applications of food safety and the green economy.
Anakira stressed that the project is funded by the Swiss government at a value of 5 million francs, pointing to the importance of the food industry sector in the transition to a green economy and sustainable production, and stressed that green growth projects in Egypt have economic and environmental importance, as it provides producers with technical support to improve productivity, save resources and reduce costs To sustain production and contribute to achieving food security, as well as maximizing the use and recycling of waste. Dr. Adel Sabry, the national coordinator of the project in Egypt, added that the project started in July 2020 and will continue until the end of 2024, and aims to grow the number of 150 small, medium and micro enterprises in the governorates of Luxor and Qena for many sectors, especially the food industries sector. The symposium included presentations by the project consultant, and many discussions took place with the attendees, representatives of the member companies, about the proposed future cooperation steps to achieve the project’s objective.

The Chairman of the Chamber of Food Industries, Eng. Ashraf El-Gazairly, participated in a meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as part of a group of businessmen, senior investors, and industrialists, thanking the President for the positive messages to the private sector that stimulate economic growth and encourage investors. He stressed that the industrial sector stands behind the political leadership in its interest in the industry and overcoming the current challenges because of its strong and rapid economic and social impact to achieve comprehensive development. He added, "We hope that the reform and development measures adopted by the government will achieve the vision of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the strong political will to achieve reform and economic growth by encouraging and supporting industry growth, sustainable production and serious investment."
The Chairman of the Chamber of Food Industries said that during this period, it is required to overcome all obstacles facing the private sector in general and the national industry in particular in order to overcome the economic and social challenges, through an actual translation of the ambitious development plans of the state to improve the incubating environment for industrial investment in Egypt.

Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival in Fayoum, October 27-28, 2022
The Chamber of Food Industries participated in the opening of the first Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival in Fayoum Governorate on October 27 and 28. The festival was held in cooperation with the Agricultural Export Council, the Food Industries Export Council, the Industry Modernization Center, and the Food Industries Technology Center.
Mr. Mahmoud Al-Basiouni, Executive Director of the Chamber, confirmed that the Chamber is participating in the first festival of medicinal and aromatic plants within the framework of fruitful and constructive cooperation with the project to improve livelihoods and the ecosystem in Upper Egypt, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the “Concept” company to support and support the food industry sector. . Al-Basiouni added that the members were invited to participate and display the festival’s products for free, for companies that meet the conditions and without a financial fee to support and finance the project, and pointed out that the Chamber called on companies to also apply and participate in the “Innovation" competition in the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Sector, which aims to support and encourage workers in the medicinal and aromatic plants sector to provide innovative solutions to advance the sector and improve the Egyptian product during the stages of cultivation, production, manufacturing and export.

The first international industry forum and exhibition, October 29-31, 2022
The Chamber of Food Industries participated in the first international industry forum and exhibition organized by the Federation of Industries under the auspices and honor of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, from 29 to 31 October 2022. This event is the first of its kind with the participation of many companies operating in the Egyptian market under the umbrella of the Federation of Egyptian Industries in various industrial sectors, where 16 food companies participated in an area of 550 square meters. Eng. Ahmed Samir, during his inspection tour of the exhibition, accompanied by Engineer Mohamed El Sewedy, President of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Eng. Ashraf El Gazairly, chairman of the Chamber of Food Industries, and many heads and members of the boards of directors of various industrial chambers praised the quality of the industrial products offered, which reflect the great capabilities and components of the national industry and its keeping pace with technical and technological developments.
Global, pointing to the ability of the national industry to meet the needs of the local market and export to regional and global markets. During the inspection tour, the minister listened to the vision of a number of manufacturers with new innovations that maximize the added value of national products, as well as their plans to develop their production capabilities and open new export markets. Eng. Ashraf Al-Jazairli also stressed during a speech at the discussion session at the forum under the title "Towards Sustainable Industrial Development", that the food processing sector is one of the largest sectors contributing to economic and social development.

Al-Jazairli explained that the food industries sector contributes about $18 billion in added value to the gross national product and that the food industries sector accommodates about 7 million direct and indirect job opportunities, and an investment volume of more than $500 billion for 18,000 food establishments that are members of the Chamber in the official sector. He pointed out that the value of exports amounted to 4.2 billion dollars and achieved a growth of 19% last year. He pointed out that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's ratification of Law No. 1 of 2017 to establish the Food Safety Authority had a significant impact on the recovery of the food processing sector and the increase in the competitiveness of the sector's exports, in addition to the availability of a huge infrastructure of roads, electricity, gas, energy, logistical services, and advanced ports. He added that the Chamber's vision is based on building competitive and comprehensive value chains for sustainable growth in the local market with the aim of Egypt becoming a food factory for the Middle East and Africa and the main supplier of food for European markets. He pointed out that in recent years we have witnessed that all international food companies have moved their production bases to manufacture food in Egypt, and this is a strong indication of opportunities for industry growth and increased exports during the coming period.
Food Africa exhibition in its seventh session 2022, from 5-7 December 2022
The Chamber of Food Industries participated as a strategic partner in the Food Africa Exhibition in its seventh session for the year 2022, with many pavilions, in the framework of the Chamber’s support for the food industry sector, in particular small and medium enterprises. The Chamber's pavilion this year included representation from each of: "Izdehar Program Companies" for developing companies in the food industries sector, and the companies of the Comprehensive Green Growth Project in Egypt of UNIDO. The Chamber also invited its strategic partners from the bodies and institutions, including the "Ministry of Education and Technical Education - the Central Laboratory for the Analysis of Pesticide Residues - the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology - the Egyptian General Organization for Standardization and Quality." The Chamber also participated in many sessions during the exhibition, including the opening session, in the presence of Ms. Rana Jamali, Vice Chairman of the Chamber, and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, and Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi, Chairman of the Food Safety Authority, and Deputy Engineer Sharif Al-Jabali, Chairman of the African Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives. Whereas, Rana Jamali, Vice Chairman of the Chamber, stated in her opening speech at the conference that Food Africa 2022 is one of the most important and largest international events in the field of specialized exhibitions in the African continent, in which the Chamber is keen to be present to enable and support all food companies to display their products in a way that enhances opportunities for growth and export.
During her speech, she emphasized that the Chamber's strategy is based on building comprehensive competitive value chains and achieving sustainable growth, especially since Egypt has the production capacities and qualifications to be a food factory in the Middle East and Africa and the main supplier of food to European markets in light of the presence of strong indicators of opportunities for industry growth and increased exports during the period. In recent years, we have witnessed the transfer of international factories to their production bases to manufacture food in Egypt. As part of the Chamber's efforts to support the food sector, the Chamber of Food Industries organized workshops on the sidelines of the Food Africa exhibition. Where the first workshop came under the title "Training on the efficient use of resources in food establishments" on the first day of the opening of the exhibition in cooperation with the Comprehensive Green Growth Project in Egypt - UNIDO. with the presence of Mr. Mahmoud El Bassiouni, Executive Director of the Chamber, and Mrs. Anna Chiara Escandoni An industrial development expert and project manager, Dr. Adel Sabry, the national coordinator of the project, Dr. Ahmed Hazeen, director of the Sustainable Engineering Department at Chemonics Egypt Consulting - the technical arm of the project, and a number of food processing companies who are members of the Chamber. The Chamber also held a discussion session in the presence of Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Safety and with the support of the Food Control and Inspection Systems Support Project “TAIB” in order to present and discuss the Authority’s strategy during the next stage, the axes of its work plan and the desired goals to be achieved, and His Excellency explained the Authority’s vision in that Be influential in the development of regulatory systems at the regional and international levels, and become a reference body and not only a supervisory body. Dr. Tariq indicated during the session that the authority’s strategy axes include developing the inspection and control mechanism and digital transformation and working to raise awareness through intensive awareness campaigns on food safety at the level of producers and consumers and other important axes, and this comes by working to support the organizational structure with resources capable of achieving the vision The organization and its mission.
